American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine (AACPDM) Pediatric Physiatrist - Weill Cornell Medical College- New York Presbyterian and Hospital for Special Surgery

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Weill Cornell and the Department of Physiatry at the Hospital for Special Surgery are seeking a fellowship-trained pediatric rehabilitation medicine physician for a shared role at both institutions. You’ll join an experienced partner with a growing program at both institutions and will contribute to expanding pediatric rehabilitation at these leading academic institutions and the surrounding community.

Description:
The ideal candidate will have expertise in providing comprehensive neuromuscular care including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, brain and spinal cord injury, neurogenetic disorders, as well as congenital neurodevelopmental and musculoskeletal disorders. Core clinical skills include comprehensive management of hypertonia, orthotic and durable medical equipment prescription and management, and therapy recommendations. Additional expertise and interest in EMG/NCS is preferred, but not required. You will also have the unique opportunity to learn and utilize gait and upper extremity motion analysis interpretation and will be expected to participate in the weekly multidisciplinary conferences. This position provides the unique opportunity to join a team of experienced and world-renown experts in neuromuscular medicine across the disciplines of pediatric physiatry, pediatric orthopedic surgery, pediatric physical therapy, engineering, and gait science. This collaboration will promote professional growth, and provide opportunities for research and leadership positions in neuromuscular medicine.

Responsibilities:
This person would provide outpatient services divided between the Weill Cornell campus and the HSS campus, and provide inpatient consultations at the Weill Cornell Komansky Children’s Hospital every other week. The two hospitals are located in adjoining buildings on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Additionally, there is an opportunity to initiate and build a pediatric physiatry presence at the NYP Brooklyn Methodist campus starting approximately one day per month.

The pediatric physiatrist will also be expected to teach residents/medical students/fellows, participate in research, and collaborate closely with colleagues in Pediatric Orthopedics, Pediatric Neurology, Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, and other subspecialties.
